Come enjoy a class for you and your child baking and decorating cupcakes. You will learn how to bake your own cupcakes from scratch, make buttercream icing and techniques involving piping and dipping. Then learn how to put the finishing touches on your cupcakes using sprinkles, fruit, graham crackers, marshmallows, ganache and more! Each child will get to take at least 12 cupcakes home with them.

How do you make food taste great AND healthy at the same time?

Healthy is less about the food and more about the cooking techniques to make it tasty. Boiled chicken is bland, properly seared chicken is robust with flavor. You’ve probably heard “Fat is Flavor” when you’re cooking. Whoever said that forgot to mention herbs, spices, and chilis add flavor and depth beyond compare.

We’re going to cook straight out of my personal experience of once being overweight and now being in the best shape of my life. They say (whoever “they” are) to “never trust a skinny chef.” That is true until you’ve met one who used to be heavier and has cooked his way thin.

The common misconception is that “healthy” is boring and bland. In this class we will set you straight. We’ll be using techniques such as searing and seasoning to accomplish our goals. I will share some of my signature spice rubs with you as well.

We LOVE bagels at the Pennypacker house! Moving to Chattanooga narrowed our ability to find GREAT locally made New York Style Bagels. It has given us precious time with our girls to perfect our own at home. Now I'm bringing them to you!

In this class we will make yeast dough from scratch, shape bagels & bialys, boil and bake the bagels, and fill and bake the bialys. In the middle there will be lots of rising and yeasty conversation! In the end we will be enjoying a fresh hot bagel/bialy with butter or cream cheese.

There is nothing like the smell of freshly baked bread coming out of oven!

You will definitely get your workout in this class. Making bread, kneading all the dough, and following all the steps of a yeast bread can be hard work, yet so worth it! In this class you will learn great techniques to make your bread baking a success. The fun part is tasting all the warm bread with some fresh jam spread on top!

As an added bonus, each student will take home sourdough starter, with how-to instructions, to begin your own starter!
